Being stuck at home for hours on end is no fun for anyone, but here are some top tips from Frankie Pants, superhero of new children’s book Frankie Pants & Mr Fox, on how kids can make the most of their time at home.

  1. Read a book

In difficult times, books are a great source of inspiration and escapism that can take you on a journey of imagination and discovery to anywhere you like. So grab a good book and get reading!

  1. Get crafty

Find some old toilet roll tubes (we should all have plenty of these now!), cereal packets, magazines, stickers, glue and get crafting! Use your imagination to make anything you like from a rocket to a superhero mask. Or if you’d like the hard work done for you, grab a Frankie Pants x Artmill Crafty Cat Pack and recreate some superhero scenes of your own.

  1. Build a fort

All good superheros need somewhere to hide and plan their next move. Build a fort/castle/spaceship from a clotheshorse, a tepee or just some old sheets draped over the couch. Just ask a parent first!

  1. Ready, steady, bake

Baking is great fun and a good way to learn about cooking safely in the kitchen. Grab an adult and find some fun things to make, like cat cupcakes with yummy icing or veggie-filled muffins for a healthy snack.

  1. Superhero science

There’s nothing more exciting than a super cool science experiment, especially one that involves volcanos and lava and gooey slime! Why not test out the classic Float or Sink experiment with your favourite superhero toys or ask a parent to download a recipe for superhero slime? There’s plenty of fun to be had and mess to be made!

Frankie Pants & Mr Fox is an engaging picture book for pre-school and kindy-aged children about the nightly antics of neighbourhood feline Frankie, who turns from lazy cat by day to superhero by night.

The Frankie Pants x Artmill Crafty Cat Pack includes a copy of the book and 25 pieces of quality handcut card which can be used to create scenes from the story. The pieces can be moved and changed to create different pictures over and over again and are chunky enough for little hands to use.
