The kids have gone back to school the hustle and bustle of everyday life has returned. All across Australia the sounds of “Mum, Dad, I’m hungry!” can be heard, almost like clockwork at 3pm every afternoon. It’s after school snack time!
Australian Health and Wellbeing statistics say that 1 in 4 Aussie children/adolescents aged 2-17 are considered obese, which means that now more than ever, ensuring that Aussie kids are eating the recommended daily serves of fruit and veg is vital.
One way you can ensure that your child is getting adequate nutrients in their daily diet is by making simple swaps to their afternoon snacks. While store brought snacks often have hidden nasties making them at home means you know exactly what they’re eating…and more importantly, what they’re not! You can even get the kids involved with making these ones – from planning the snacks, shopping for ingredients, preparing and cooking.
