Kiddipedia Sleep Support

Dream Winks takes a unique approach to sleep and settling that is quite different to traditional consultants and sleep schools. This allows us to offer support before birth and with newborns once feeding is established, as well as older babies and toddlers. Our approach is holistic and baby-led. We tailor everything to each family, allowing you to receive support that suits your parenting style and your little one’s temperament. Rather than the main focus being on settling, Dream Winks’ approach focuses on identifying and working on all the possible underlying issues that can affect sleep and settling, as well as ensuring to meet your little one’s needs day and night. We see great results from this alone! If needed we believe settling should be only a small part of the puzzle and the last piece. We work with a range of methods and it is each family’s choice as to what we do.

Dream Winks offers pre-natal packages which can help you to set up the best possible environment for sleep, covering everything from clothing, wraps, bedding, cots and mattresses to the room environment as a whole. We can help you learn how to best swaddle your baby for good sleep as well as help you with very gentle, parentally involved hands-on settling to help them to sleep in their cot. When good sleep habits are started from birth, you rarely see any need to tackle settling or sleep issues. We will also help you learn about sleep cycles, sleep patterns and development. If you would like help with preparing for feeding and what to expect, we can help there too; basically anything you need to know to give you and your little one the best start. Our prenatal packages make the ideal baby shower gift!

Many parents think that sleep help can’t be sought or be effective until 4-6 months. Due to Dream Winks’ approach we can help once feeding is established – so around 3-4 weeks. This is because we focus on creating the best sleep situation for each little one. This is our main focus rather than settling. We will help you identify if there are any feeding issues and if further support is needed. We will connect you with the best professionals as we believe in a team approach as needed. We can help you create the best possible environment for your little one to sleep and identify any issues that may need working on. We can guide you as to natural sleep windows and age appropriate awake times and how to start forming good routines as they get older, all while ensuring all their needs are met day and night. Creating good sleep habits, environments and sleep patterns from a young age sets the stage for good sleep in the future and minimises the chances of seeing issues when others may be experiencing so called “regressions”. If you are having trouble settling your little one, we can provide guidance on very gentle, parentally-involved methods to help them to settle in their cot. As they grow out of the newborn stage, we will always provide each family with their choice of how to settle and multiple options so we can find what suits both parenting style and child’s temperament.
