Kintsugi is the Japanese art of mending precious pottery with gold. It is said that the bowl has increased value after repair because it has become unique, it has a rich history and the repairer has an affinity to it because they were able to repair it.

You see, just like this bowl, we have toiled through life’s challenges that may cause us to crack or even break. These challenges in life may have scared us both physically and emotionally, but it is how we choose to see these events that can determine our future success. Do you see these events as badges of shame that you are burdened to carry or is it your belief that your history makes you complete, whole, wise, and (just like the bowl) more beautiful?

A little over a year ago, when I became a single mum, this life event, although of my own choice, seemed almost impossible to recover from.  Now I see this HUGE event as an opportunity to learn some hard lessons, work on healing myself through the study of the mind and provide me with a distinct advantage in all aspects of my life. Just like every belief, there is potential that the belief is a lie. Therefore, take a moment to consider what you believe about your past. Do you feel that this belief supports your awesome potential? If not, take an opportunity to change it so that it supports your potential rather than limits it.

Earl Nightingale said, “Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality”.  Instead of seeing the world the way the masses do or the way someone else sees it, view it—and your life—through an entirely different lens.  Make the choice, consciously.  One of the best ways I know to do that is to create a customised life script that uplifts, empowers and delights you.

And listen…

You don’t have to be unhappy, anxious, or unhealthy to do this.

Even if you’re very pleased with your current life circumstances, I encourage you to design a life script. Make your life as beautiful as Kintsugi and hey, you never would have got here, to this moment, reading this blog without having gone through something.

You can still go through something and acknowledge it and feel it without letting it become you.  Don’t let the dramas of the outside world, your past failures, or even your successes define or limit you. Failure is not fatal. And success is not final. You’ve got a power flowing through you that allows you to do things that will astound you. So, decide what, exactly, you want your future to look like.   How do you want your days to play out? Who do you want to be spending time with? Where will you live? How much money will you make? How healthy will you be? How will your kids define themselves?  What relationship do you want with others?

The truth is, you are writing the script for the movie of your life at every moment.  Well, starting today, become the conscious writer, director and star of your movie. Remember, this is your life. If you want a life with more passion, awe-inspiring relationships, a grand business, write it into the script.
