Who doesn’t love a day at the beach?
Taking your babies to the beach is a great day out. There is a bit of prep that you need to do before hand to ensure that you have a stress free and relaxing day, but it will definitely be worth it.
Research where you are going
If it is your first beach outing with your twins or triplets, you may not want to go to a beach that is going to be super crowded or hard to get to. Once you have decided on where to go, check if there is local parking that is easily accessible, that there are local shops if needed and local toilets and water stations.
Pack accordingly
As with anywhere that you go with twins or triplets, you need to make sure you are properly prepared with what you take. Your nappy bag should be full of the normal stuff; nappies, wipes, changes of clothes, hat and sunscreen. But also think about what else you need to take. Will the babies be on a blanket or in a sun shade tent. Make sure you pack plenty of water for yourself and food for throughout the day. You do not want to be packing up your set up half way through the day to go and get lunch. Where possible, pack as much as you can the night before so that you can quickly double check it in the morning before heading out.
Extra Hands
If you can, invite someone along to come with you. Leaving the house with multiple babies can be a mission in itself so if you are planning on being out for the whole day having someone with you will be a great help. They can keep one baby occupied whilst you feed the other or help with nap time and nappy changes.
Extra of everything
It may sound like a little bit of overkill but you will thank me afterwards ?
Make sure you take extra nappies, clothes, wipes, towels and basically everything you are taking. It is normally when you are not prepared that you end up with a poo explosion or loose a dummy. Having extras with you will help control any mess and meltdowns.
Set yourself limits and do not have high expectations
As parents, we always want things to go to plan. We sometimes picture our outings in our heads and how they are going to go – the perfect day out.
However during parenthood you come to realise that this is not always the case and things do not always go to plan. You may only end up being out of the house for an hour or two and that is okay! Enjoy your time out however long or short it is and enjoy being able to play and interact with your babies.
And most of all – HAVE FUN!
