Fatherhood?  Fun?  No, this isn’t a joke. Believe it or not, fathering can be fun when you develop a certain perspective. In this post, we want to explore 3 attributes that will bring joy, excitement, and success to your fathering experience.

Positive Mindset

As men, if we are not careful, we can sometimes view fatherhood as a burden instead of as a blessing. We can really make strides and succeed in parenting once we come to the realization of how important our role is in the home. Statistics even prove that the presence of a father lessens the likelihood of juvenile delinquency and destructive behavior in children.  King Solomon said it best, “The glory of the children is the father.”

Sense of Humor/Playfulness

Being a man does not warrant that we must always be so serious.  Sometimes, we need to lighten up and enjoy the privilege of parenting.  Since we have been blessed with a child or children, we should be happy and excited about the opportunity to make a positive impact on their lives.  Kids are so fun and funny.  As we father correctly, our children will bring out the kid in us, enabling us to remain young at heart.

Courage

The fathering pendulum can swing from one side of the spectrum to the other.  On one hand, it can be exciting, rewarding, and fun.  On the other hand, it can be challenging, unpredictable, and difficult.  Therefore, courage is a needed component for fatherhood.  This element will stabilize and strengthen us in our lowest and toughest moments.  It will enable us to face uncertain, complicated circumstances with faith and resilience.
