Something has to be said for the unspoken support women give each other in sisterhood; the support, advice, inspiration, encouragement, tips and tricks. We all know that uplifting feeling of what it’s like to receive a special message from a gal pal that picks us up when we’re down.
True sisterhood is something we consciously and work at, to simply help another women in need.
A perfect example of this is The Power of Community. The incredible story of Beckii Jones (from The Organic Butler) Milk Tree and the community of 15 like minded and supportive Mums who bonded together to nurture a newborn baby after her mother tragically passed away during her home birth.
Each of the 15 women ran a Milk Tree, a perfectly coordinated and scheduled Milk run of their donated breast milk for first 12 months of the babies life. They each dropped off their donated breast milk to a freezer out the front of the house for the father. This was to honour the Mother’s wish for her baby to always have breast milk, and not formula.
Each mother in this group was handed a photocopy of a hand written recipe that the babies mother had had on her fridge at the time of her babies birth. It was of a ‘Lactation Cookie Recipe’ (pictured below)
Incredibly, even though she had passed the babies mother was still able to help by providing each of the mothers with a recipe to help them produce milk for her baby.
We would love to share the recipe with you today with hope you will continue passing it on in the name of sisterhood and in honour of all mothers who tragically lost their lives during childbirth:
