Mayver’s is encouraging all peanut butter lovers to get creative and think about their recycling habits this National Recycling Week, November 11-17.

In particular, how they can reuse or ‘upcycle’ their empty Mayver’s jars. All Mayver’s fullsize spreads come in reusable, solid glass jars with labels specially designed to easily peel off for reuse.

Mayver’s is encouraging customers to think green and buy the glass options where possible, which provide the best opportunity for reuse and recycling. However, for those who need the convenience of portability and portion control, Mayver’s Goodness To Go pots are packed in the highest quality recyclable PET.

Leading dietician Susie Burrell says the jars are perfect for storing healthy on-the-go foods like overnight oats, chia puddings or lunch salads.

“It’s important to consider the packaging of the products we buy. Aim to purchase products with minimal packaging, that can be recycled or, even better, can be reused instead of thrown away after use,” she says.

“I never put any of my jars in the recycling, they’re far too handy to have in the kitchen. From providing extra glassware to food storage and even make great indoor herb planters.”

Mayver’s top ‘upcycle’ recipe and reuses

  • Protein + Peanut Butter, Raspberry and Chia Puddings
  • Peanut Butter Choc Banana Smoothie
  • Kitchen herb planter – simply add some small rocks to the bottom of the jar, followed by potting mix and your preferred herb seeds or seedling.
