Winter is a wonderful time to rest, recharge and rejuvenate with comfort food that can help keep us warm and snug.

Mother earth has incredible ability to supply us with seasonal produce that contains the nutrients our bodies need to consume for optimum health for that time of year.

For as long as humanity has been in existence we have resourceful with what food options we have available and are in season, but due to technological advances, we have had the luxury of eating summer fruits all year round.

This, however, comes with a range of disadvantages including making our digestive system work overtime.

To help us understand the benefits of eating seasonally we welcome back Siobhan Boyle, CEO of Jamie Olivers Ministry of Food.

Siobhan shares great tips how we can make the most of winter produce.

We ask Siobhan questions including:

  1. Why is eating seasonally important?
  2. Is it true that produce that is not in season undergoes early picking, cooling and heating. Does this reduces the flavour?
  3. What are your top winter ingredients?
  4. So how can we make the most out of winter produce?
  5. Do you see winter is a great time to get the kids in the kitchen, to learn and be involved with cooking?
  6. What are your favourite winter recipes?
  7. How can manage carbohydrates and comfort food consumption?
  8. I believe that the Good Foundation and Jaime’s Ministry of Food also offer an online program with cooking lessons that teach how to cook delicious and nutritious meals using Jaime Olivers recipes. Can you tell us a little about how we can access the program?
