Every year in Australia, 48,000 babies are born requiring specialised care. Of these, 27,000 are born premature and up to 1,000 babies will sadly lose their fight for life.
132 babies will be born on Christmas Day, and will sadly spend the next few weeks, months or even up to one year in hospital under the care of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery (SCN).
Help a miracle this Christmas. Support a family here.
Having a baby born not as expected can be life-changing and it affects the entire family. Babies can go on to face lifelong challenges including disabilities, developmental delays or behavioural issues and parents are 2.5 times more likely to develop post-natal depression.
For families with a baby spending Christmas Day in hospital, Miracle Babies would like to spread some Christmas cheer. For these families, what should be a time of joy and celebration, will instead be filled with fear, anxiety and feelings of helplessness, as they watch their precious baby fight for their life.
For these families, Miracle Babies will deliver Christmas gifts to the NICU and Special Care Nurseries across Australia. You too can help. Just $10 will help to provide a Christmas gift to one more family.
$143 will also provide emotional support to one family throughout their entire hospital journey and $30 will provide a NICU Survival Pack, full of information and resources to help them navigate and cope with the experience of having a baby in specialised care.
Plus, for all donations above $30, receive your free Christmas Bauble Card, which can be personalised for your loved ones.
