Allerchic for Eczema and Allergy

Allerchic for Eczema and Allergy

Hi I’m Steph & thanks to a very kind invitation from Rachael & the Kiddipedia family I will be beaming into your lounge room once a month to talk about all things Eczema & Allergy. Occasionally I will also talk about guiding my gorgeous Batbaby through the minefield that is Autism.

I had been a Nurse for 20+yrs when my hubby & I welcomed our long awaited beautiful Scientist Princess into the world, we were besotted from the moment she opened her big blue eyes. But no amount of training could prepare me for the moment she vomited blood. This is when her allergy journey began.

It was early in the morning, bub was fussing so under a dull night light I lifted her into our bed to change her nappy & give her a feed. She turned her head & without a sound had a large vomit that looked dark. I turned on my bedside light for closer inspection & screamed at my sleeping husband “Shes vomited blood, we need to go to ED”. She was just 14 days old. My poor husband was in the car before he was awake. At 3 weeks old she underwent her first Endoscopy at Westmead Children’s hospital.

Prior to this I had cared for children with eczema & allergies in the children’s ward at our local hospital. I had looked after them as their parents came to see the Nutritionist/Naturopath I later worked with looking for natural treatment options and of course I myself was blessed with the immune disorders that are eczema, asthma & anaphylaxis allergies.

But none of this made the journey of a baby with anaphylaxis allergies & eczema any easier. I went back through all my text books & studies, I was reading every clinical trial & medical journal I could get my hands on & spent hours talking with our daughter’s multiple specialists trying to make the journey easier.

As I searched the interwebs I couldn’t believe that there was only one website in Australia offering eczema & allergy products, nor could I believe how expensive it was! Most people I had met were in the same boat as me; on maternity leave, living on one wage so the cost of these products just wasn’t sustainable for a growing child.

So Allerchic for Eczema & Allergy was born.

Hopefully I can spare you hopelessness that I initially felt. Guide you through the wives’ tales & share with you what works with little tips & tricks along the way.

Another 2yrs along & we welcomed another absolute blessing into our lives, the Batbaby. Funny, witty, clever, hilariously honest and not always able to cope with the world she finds herself in. Once again we began a massive learning curve, but this time diving into the very deep rabbit hole that is Autism Spectrum Disorder.

I love a good Will Ferrell Meme & believe we all need to seriously laugh out loud every single day. I often say my life is a circus & all that is missing is the Benny Hill music. It’s a crazy wild ride, it’s far from perfect & I honestly wouldn’t change any of it.

Leave a comment below I would love to hear from you.
