With the holiday season in full swing and Christmas Day just around the corner, Australian families are looking to make this festive season a special one and heal from the not-so-festive year that was 2020. For over 85 years, our friends at Schleich toys have been inspiring and bringing joy to children around the world. Their realistic figurines and engaging playsets are made with the highest quality and safety standards and with meticulous attention to detail. Their mission to put the world in your hands is especially relevant this holiday season, as they seek to inspire wonderment during this the Christmas period and all year round.

In addition to the bonanza of high-quality toys they have available, you can also count on Schleich for all the Christmas essentials including holiday cards, decoration tips and DIY activities. Below, you they’ve shared some essential tips for capturing the true spirit of Christmas.

For the love of presents

Choosing the perfect Christmas gift for your child can be a nerve-wracking experience for parents as well as family members! We all want their eyes to light up with joy as they tear open the wrapping paper to reveal what’s inside! With a plethora of options available it can be tough to settle on the right gift. Here are some essential present-picking tips:

  • Prioritise open-ended toys that harness the power of imagination to teach key skills and maximise the fun factor
  • Choose products with quality construction to ensure your child’s toys have longevity and will stand the test of time
  • Buy from a trusted toy maker instead of a big-box retailer to ensure quality and harness their insights on personality-based and age-appropriate toys

Schleich toys aim to give parents the ultimate confidence when gift giving for their child; allowing you to choose from six exciting play worlds: Farm World, Wild Life, Dinosaurs, Horse Club, bayala® or Eldrador® Creatures. You can select products from a particular world or combine them for infinite play possibilities. They also understand that the anticipation of gift giving and receiving can be just as thrilling as the outcome on Christmas Day.

Have you sat down with your child to put pen to paper and create a wish list? It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn their preferences and gather intel. Before you panic that it will create a snowball of items you can’t possibly gather, keep in mind that talking it through and ranking items can help children reflect on what’s most important, and you can usually coax out the favourites!

Get your child to create their own wish list for their favourite toys with the downloadable wish list from Schleich. And don’t forget the Schleich Gift tags once you’ve wrapped them – they’ll make this year’s gifts extra special! Simply download the gift tag, cut them out and attach to your gifts.

Express your gratitude

Toys and other presents are an important fixture of gratitude during the festive season, but nothing beats the feeling of the love from your family and friends. After a very challenging year felt both domestically and globally, gratitude has taken on new significance in 2020. Australian families are taking nothing for granted, and a Christmas gift this year in the eyes of your children may simply be the freedom to see their grandparents again.

Among other measures, it’s time to revive the lost art of writing thank you cards for family members to communicate gratitude when receiving. Schleich have taken some of the hard work out of this task – simply download the Schleich Holiday Thank You Cards so your little one can write a heartfelt thank you message for all of their holiday gifts.

Other strategies for making gratitude a centrepiece of your holiday season:

  • Make time to actively talk about what you’re thankful for as a family, even before Christmas Day
  • Make a donation to the needy (a children’s charity is particularly appropriate for your child to appreciate what they have compared to other kids)
  • Limit the extravagance of your Christmas by reigning in spend and filtering out items that are not fundamental to your enjoyment of the season

Honour traditions and forge new ones

In this time of a ‘new normal’ one tradition that shouldn’t be disrupted is the sending of holiday cards. Granted, the elves at the post office have certainly been pushed to the limit this year, including delivery of Schleich’s popular holiday cards! To reassure extended family and friends that they hold a place in your heart, why not send your family and friends a special note this holiday season with hassle-free, downloadable holidays cards from Schleich? If sending physical cards isn’t an option, consider eCards to help spread the cheer. Other time honoured traditions for families to bring on the merriment, include the annual trip around the neighbourhood to find the most impressive Christmas light displays, and getting the kids involved in baking Christmas themed goods that double as gifts.

We’ve gotten accustomed to new traditions in 2020 including video calls to see loved ones at the click of a button, so it’s an ideal time to blend the old with the new to find extra meaning this holiday season. DIY craft activities are an excellent example of a new tradition to commemorate reaching the end of a tough year. So, instead of a store-bought wreath, make one! It’ll allow you to bond with your family and teach kids the value of hard work to earn their possessions.

Guess what? Schleich have got you covered here too! Check out their instructional videos:

The Tyrannosaurus rex looked very menacing, but was hardly capable of using it short front legs equipped with two claws, as they could not even reach its mouth. At nearly seven metres in height and thirteen metres long, the Tyrannosaurus rex was probably not a particularly good hunter, but rather a scavenger that fed on what other animals left behind. It had over fifty teeth, measuring over 15 cm in length, but it didn’t use them to chew, but to tear, swallowing its food in large pieces. In order to better perceive depths while hunting for food, the eyes of the Tyrannosaurus rex were pointed forwards, allowing the field of vision of its eyes to overlap.
