Let’s face it, shopping for Christmas is often stressful and exhausting and can be quite expensive. However, with the right planning and preparation — Christmas shopping can be both enjoyable and doesn’t need to break the bank.
As a marketing consultant and expert in digital marketing and eCommerce, I know a thing or two about the best tips for consumers when it comes to nabbing a bargain!
Today, I’m going to share with you some of the best tricks and tips to save money when Christmas shopping this festive season.
Here are my top tips to save money these Christmas holidays:
-
Start shopping early.
Take advantage of mega online sales events such as Click Frenzy on 8 November this year, and Black Friday & Cyber Monday during the last week of November, by shopping early.
If you’re sticking to a budget and want to avoid overspending, start early and scope out the best deals ahead of time on the items on your list as soon as these sales events start.
A general guideline, Black Friday is a better time to shop if you’re looking to buy newer and big-ticket items, while Cyber Monday is a better day for tech deals and smaller gifts.
Shopping early not only will save you money, but you also get to save time as well — less hassle and stress-free.
- Don’t unsubscribe from emails.
I know it can be tempting to unsubscribe from the inbox overwhelm that can happen in the lead up to these major shopping events, but avoid the temptation!
Otherwise, you’re likely to miss out on great last minute sales and offers from businesses as this is the time when almost all businesses will send you great discounts straight to your inbox.
So make sure you subscribe to your favourite brands so you don’t miss out as brands often use their email marketing lists to offer VIP’s priority access to the best deals as well as secret sales!
- Be organised and do your research.
If you know someone who may like a particular item, then hunt around to see where you can find the best deals.
But before shopping, I encourage you to make create a list and set a budget to stick to. By creating a list beforehand, you know exactly what you need to buy first and not just grabbing whatever is on sale when it’s not really essential. One of the mistakes consumers often make is impulse buying. Those prices can sure look tempting, but they’re not always a good deal when you don’t really need them.
It’s also a good idea to be organised ahead of time and know exactly what you are shopping for with each retailer. Many brands are still dealing with ongoing supplies issues as a result of COVID-19 so it’s likely that popular brands and items will sell out, leaving you with no other option than to pre-order or find a similar alternative.
- Take advantage of price matching.
Many of the major retailers are offering price matching so be sure to compare prices and choose the option that offers the best price with the greatest convenience.
You may find that the retailers all have similar pricing and it may be more convenient to shop at one location but be sure to think about other factors such as which retailer has the best returns policy and whether there are any additional fees for delivery.
I hope you find these Christmas Shopping tips helpful. By utilising these tips to start early, don’t unsubscribe and be super organised – your Christmas shopping will be a breeze this year.
