No doubt a lot of parents are feeling anxious and concerned about Term 2 with the move to online and distant learning. These feelings are completely understandable.

One thing we do have to keep in mind and remember is that the move to distant learning is to help reduce the spread of COVID19, this will not be forever.

On the other hand, the thought of continuing your children’s education from the dining table is one that undoubtedly causing a lot of parents tension and anxiety at the moment.

This is the biggest adjustment to our children’s lives as we know it.

The good news is, you’re not expected to replace teachers, you are not expected to become a subject matter expert. You are a parent, and your job is simply to be the best one you can be.

Kiddipedia’s job is to help you BE THE BEST PARENT YOU CAN with the expert information and advice we publish each and every day.

Teaching our kids at home is certainly a challenge, but it’s not an insurmountable problem – given the right approach and the right tools.

Lucky for us we are joined by James Burnett who will share some these tools that can help.

James is the CEO, co-founder of Origo Education, a father of three, and an expert o how to teach primary school children mathematics at school and at home.

Origo at Home is a free online resource designed to help parents – with more than 20,000 have already accessed the program. The online program has Activities for each day of the week and it is specific to different primary school year levels.

We ask James questions including

  1. What do you think is the most important tip you can give parents who are at home right now trying to help teach maths to their children?
  2. How can parents teach their children the basics? For example, how do kids learn what we used to call our times table?
  3. Things have changed so much since we were young and there is so much information on the net. Have you got any suggested sites for parents and their kids
