Rainbow Families, a leading LGBTQ+ charity, is dedicated to connecting, supporting and empowering, LGBTQ+ parents at every stage of their journey. In support of this mission, Rainbow Families will host its annual ‘Making Rainbow Families Seminar’ on Saturday, May 25, 2024. This event aims to assist LGBTQ+ individuals and couples considering parenthood by providing information and support that can be difficult to navigate alone.
The seminar, which will be held both online and in person in Sydney, will cover a range of topics, including:
– ‘Are you ready to become a Parent?’ with insights from a family psychologist.
– Fostering and adoption
– IVF, IUI and home insemination
– Surrogacy options
– Trans and gender-diverse options
– Legal considerations for LGBTQ+ parents
– A panel discussion featuring LGBTQ+ parents and their children sharing their first-hand experiences
The ‘Making Rainbow Families Seminar’ is a unique offering and is the only LGBTQ+ specific program for intended parents in Australia, offering guidance on various ways to create your own family. The seminar aims to simplify what can be a complex journey, providing attendees with expert advice from professionals such as doctors, psychologists, lawyers, and community members. The seminar will factor in all budgets, and attendees will leave equipped and confident to begin mapping out the right path for their circumstances.
Since its inception in 2016, the seminar has become an essential resource for LGBTQ+ individuals and couples considering parenthood. It provides a supportive environment and a sense of community for those navigating the decision-making process. Rainbow Families has helped over 200 families bring children into their world thanks to their annual seminar, and Ashley Scott, a gay dad and Executive Officer of Rainbow Families, is looking forward to helping more families realise their dreams this year.
“We understand the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ people on their journey to parenthood but the great news is the LGBTQ+ community has more options today than ever before to make family a reality. Navigating this journey can be daunting due to the abundance of information and misinformation out there. We aim to streamline it all and provide only what people need to get started without overwhelming them.” Ashley says.
The seminar will provide accurate and reliable information provided by experts so participants will leave ready and feel empowered. It also serves as an opportunity for participants to connect with others who share similar experiences, creating a sense of community, support and connection.
– To ensure the seminar is accessible to all, sessions will be held via Zoom and in person in Sydney.
– Tickets are $40 for in-person attendance and $25 for virtual attendance, available on the Rainbow Families Website here: https://www.rainbowfamilies.com.au/making_rainbow_families_seminar_2024
