Red Nose is delighted to announce Safe Sleep Week to be held on Monday 4 March – Sunday 10 March 2024. The theme for this year’s Safe Sleep Week is Keep it Simple, Keep them Safe.
Safe Sleep Week provides practical advice to parents, caregivers, educators and health professionals to help reduce the risk of sudden and unexpected death in infancy (including SIDS and fatal sleep accidents). It also aims to highlight that not everything families see on Instagram or other socials is safe.
To help encourage families to keep it simple, Red Nose is launching their free ‘Safe Sleeping – A Visual Guide for Parents’. This easy-to-use guide uses images to help ensure families know what is and isn’t safe.
Red Nose’s National Education and Health Promotion Manager, Loren Rushton says:
“At Red Nose we understand how overwhelming it can be becoming a parent – between the sleepless nights and endless advice swirling around, it’s enough to make anyone’s head spin. Not to mention endless social media feeds constantly bombarding you with all sorts of baby products and images.
Unfortunately, not everything you see online is safe, especially when it comes to sleep. Without the right information, how can you know what’s actually safe for your little one?
Red Nose’s ‘Visual Guide for Parents’ will help parents identify what images on socials are unsafe, so they know what to avoid doing.
Join us during Safe Sleep Week to make sure your babies sleep safe and sound.”
Safe Sleep Week 2024 will be running across Red Nose’s social media channels and website and will include FREE online events. Throughout the week, Red Nose will explore such topics as:
- Why you should always sleep baby on their back
- Why baby’s head and face should be uncovered during sleep
- How to create a safe sleep environment
- Why sleeping baby in your room is best
- How dads and partners can help keep their little ones safe
- Breastfeeding and its benefits
