Assembling a winning team is essential to the success and sustainability of any group, company, or organization. As a result, it is critical that a leader recruits a diverse, complementary group of individuals who will form a productive, effective leadership base. With that being said, below are two lists of people. The first list is composed of those who should not be selected. The second list is comprised of those who should be selected that will bring a unique skillset to create a well-rounded team and an amazing company.

Process of Elimination

  • Liabilities- put us at a disadvantage by reducing our value. These individuals refuse to grow or develop but remain in the same place forever.
  • Pullers- subtract from us by taking away our energy without imparting any into us. Another name we can call this group is leeches.
  • Impediments– get in our way, hinder, or slow down our ability to advance. These are your strong-willed, obstinate people. You constantly must go around and round with them to get their cooperation.

Process of Selection

  • Visionaries- possess an abstract mind and the ability to visualize. They will have foresight, which is the ability to see ahead. They will contribute to the comprehension and expansion of your vision.
  • Thinkers- have a concrete mind and strong logic. They will be capable of organizing and managing well. They will be responsible for formulating the meticulous details of the vision.
  • Feelers– represent the heart/soul of the group. They will be passionate and concerned about the employees, customers, and morale of the organization/company. You will typically find them behind the scenes.
  • Communicators– can articulate and share the organization’s vision, mission, and goals. They will normally be outgoing champions who represent the marketing, promotions, and sales department of the company.
  • Energizers– bring life, enthusiasm, and encouragement to the group. They will motivate others and boost morale. Ultimately, they will also serve as the worker bees, getting the tasks completed.
