When it comes to the statement “the possibilities are endless”, it’s almost as if the person that first came up with that saying had Cricut’s smart-cutting machines in mind. While these two Easter crafting projects are an easy way to get Easter ready or simply jumpstart your Cricut journey, Cricut’s vast community and easy-to-use Design Space App offers you limitless inspiration, something that doesn’t stop after Easter is over.
For some easy Easter project-making – a perfect indoor activity, we’ve put together two easy crafting projects: adorably cute Easter Egg Vinyl Decals and an Iron-On Easter Bunny project.
Vinyl Easter Egg Decals
Eggs and Easter go hand-in-hand, so what better way to decorate the house for Easter than these adorable little Easter Egg Decals. Made with printable vinyl, these egg decals are super easy to make on your Cricut Joy, Maker or Explore Air 2 and will have your home feeling ready for the holiday in a matter of minutes.
You will need:
- Printable vinyl in the colour of your choice (each decal is approximately 3.8 x 3.8cm)
- Cricut StandardGrip Machine Mat
- Transfer Tape
- Weeder tool
- Scraper tool
- Home printer
- Hard boiled eggs
- Easter egg dye
How to make them:
- On this Design Space project, press ‘Make’
- Following all prompts on the app, connect to your printer to cut the images. Visit this link here to learn how to Print Then Cut.
- To assemble, from the inside out, use the weeding tool to remove the unneeded (or negative) pieces of vinyl
- On eggs which you have boiled and dyed, which you can learn how to do here, use Transfer Tape and your Scraper Tool to apply the vinyl cuts on your Eggs.
Top tip: be very gentle when applying the vinyl to your eggs, so they don’t crack!
Note: The size of the project can easily be changed by pressing ‘customise’ on Cricut’s Design Space app.
Iron-On Easter Bunny
Nothing says ‘Easter is here’ quite like an adorable bunny to iron-on to a tea towel, pillow or table runner. While this project is made for a pillow, you can choose whatever colour or texture of iron-on you wish and depending what you want to iron-on to, just change the heat settings on your Cricut Easy Press heat press! It’s as easy as that.
You will need:
- Cricut Iron-On
- Cotton tea towel, table runner or pillow case and insert
- Cricut StandardGrip Machine Mat (if using a Maker or Explore Air 2)
- Transfer Tape
- Weeder tool
Note: this Design Space project is to iron-on to a pillow, with the option of using a needle and thread and pom-pom ribbon to decorate the pillow. This step can be skipped if you wish to just iron-on the bunny.
How to make them:
Note: Before starting, check your heat settings on the Easy Press Heat Guide online according to your iron-on and base material.
- On this Design Space project, press ‘Make’. If you want to customize the size of the rabbit for your base material, press ‘customise’ and use the corner of the image to re-size.
- Following all prompts on the app, place your iron-on face side down on your StandardGrip Mat and insert your iron-on material into the machine.
Note: If you are using the Cricut Joy, Smart Iron-On requires no mat. - Press ‘unload’ to take the material out the machine and from the inside out, use the weeding tool to remove the unneeded (or negative) pieces of iron-on
- Using the heat settings for your selected iron-on and base material, heat up your Easy Press according to instruction.
- Start by ironing the base material where you will iron-on for a few seconds (without the iron-on cutout).
- After your base material is warm, place the iron-on bunny into the desired position and set off the Easy Press timer. Once it beeps, take the Easy Press off and when cool enough to touch, peel back the protective layer. Voila!
