As many states and territories begin testing and staggering back to school in various forms, this doesn’t yet mean that life is back to normal.

For many parents, this, unfortunately, means that distant and home learning isn’t off our radars – just yet (and we all know how much you’ve been loving the experience of homeschooling so far.)

This means that the pressure is still on for parents to keep their children engaged and motivated and learning whilst they help facilitate remote learning outside the classroom.

To discuss this today we welcome Jason Kimberley, CEO, Cool Australia about the challenges parents face as they attempt to continue to inspire and motivate kids to learn from home.

Jason Kimberley is a father of three children aged between 10 and 15 years.  He launched Cool Australia in August 2008 to make education, interesting, practical, meaningful and engaging. Today Cool Australia’s real-world educational content is used in 90% of Australian schools and has a growing footprint across New Zealand.

 

We ask Jason questions including:

  1. How can parents help continue supporting their kids in the unusual living environment we’re all experiencing?
  2. It’s been said that one of the biggest challenges parents are facing is keeping the kids motivated. Why do you think this is so, and what advice do you have for parents that could help?
  3. As many students embark on a staggered return to the classroom, we are going to slowly undo some of the good work we’ve been doing with setting schedule and structure, this may make them feel unstuck. What are your thoughts on how this could impact them?
  4. How can we best help children with the transition back into the classroom?
  5. How can parents motivate their children in the last few weeks of homeschooling?
  6. How can parents make learning fun whilst at home?
  7. How can parent’s incorporate real-world learning into their child’s day?
  8. What positives will children and the educators take from this time of being at home?
