Founder of Boutique Fashion label Krystel Davis (whose client list includes the Kardashian and Jenner sisters as well as Nicole Richie) is happy to be able to pay it forward after staying at Ronald McDonald House for 6 months as a child.
“When I was young, my sister Tiff suffered severe brain damage and was in a coma for 3 weeks. She had to learn how to walk, how to talk and to function again. We lived for 6 months at Ronald McDonald House and even though I was just a small child, I have strong memories of living in this facility. It was our home away from home. This is a place run by the most incredible people.
I feel like I am at a time in my life where I can finally give back to a charity that has impacted my life in such a great and tremendous way. We lived there for a very long time. It is an incredible charity that helps people who are suffering to make the pain easier financially, mentally and physically.
I remember the faces so clearly, the sadness and the way we turned awful situations into great times. I am forever grateful to this organisation and I always will be” said Krystel.
10 year old Cienna DeLuca from Western Sydney, is a dancer from a family of 8 children, 7 of whom have spent their life in and out of hospital.
“Growing up at the hospital we have been fortunate to meet many incredible families who stay at Ronald McDonald House” said Cienna.
Cienna and her older sister Maddison – a nurse at The Children’s Hospital Westmead, registered a team called Girls United. The team now has over 60 members from all over Australia and have raised almost $20k.
RMHC GWS gives families like these a home-away-from-home during the most challenging time of their life, at a cost to the charity of around $160 per night, per family.
“It would be amazing if everybody who registers could aim to raise $160, but this may not be possible for everyone. Every dollar will help RMHC GWS and every day dancing is a good one” says Marko Panzic Ambassador.
