This DIY sore muscle rub creates a soothing, warming sensation, then transitions to a refreshing, cooling sensation. It’s perfect for soothing tense muscles after an uncomfortable night’s sleep, or sore muscles after strenuous activity or exercise. It also works to sooth tension headaches by massaging some into the back of your neck and shoulders.

Ingredients

Method

  1. Place the cayenne pepper, ginger and turmeric into a medium size glass mason jar. Add the coconut oil to the jar. Place the jar into a saucepan with about 5cm of water in it and turn to medium heat to gently melt and warm the oil.  Once the oil has melted, turn the heat off and give the mixture a stir. Let it sit for 30 min, then repeat the heating process and stir. Repeat for a third time. Reheating the oil 3 times will give you an intense infusion.
  2. Strain the mixture into another glass mason jar using a garni bag, cheese cloth or muslin. Squeeze out any excess oil.
  3. Place the jar the oil mixture is now in back into a saucepan with about 5cm of water in it and turn to medium heat.  Add the beeswax or candelilla wax and shea butter, and stir until melted,
  4. Add the essential oils and stir.
  5. Pour into 60ml metal containers(you will fill approximately 4 – give one to a friend in need!) and allow to cool and set for a couple of hours.

How to Use

Use sparingly. Apply to sore muscles. Keep out of direct sunlight and use with 6 months.
