While buying store-bought decorations is sometimes the best option, homemade DIY Christmas decorations have a certain beauty that money cannot purchase.

- Make ornament trees by hot-gluing decorations to the tops of Styrofoam cones. As you go up, switch from using larger decorations at the bottom to using smaller ones. Use miniature ornamental balls to close any gaps. Wrap the finished trees in beaded garland and vintage tinsel, if desired.

- DIY Door Bells: To create bell shapes, stack small molds and Bundt pans; then use epoxy to attach them. To make the clappers, hot-glue little decorations to the base. Attach a bow and ribbon loops to the top so it can be hung. If desired, add a swag of foliage.

- Shiny Brite Centerpiece: Place a footed tureen on a platter, then fill both dishes with decorations to make a two-tiered table arrangement.

- Sleds at the Front Door: You can easily spruce up the front walkways with wooden sleds propped up by the door.

- DIY Layered Garland: If your guests don’t compliment this DIY garland right away, they’re sure to mention the lovely perfume it emits. It is created from a simple-to-find mixture of grapevine and cedar twigs.
