We each have had firsthand experiences at the challenges COVID-19 has delivered. Depending in which state or territory you live in, you may very well still be experiencing life in lockdown, as we know Victoria is right in the midst of it.
Irrespective if you’re looking back at life in lockdown, or looking at it right smack bang in middle of the eyes, you may have unintentionally formed a new habit during as coping mechanism, that being drinking more alcohol than usual.
If you want to reduce the amount of alcohol you’ve been drinking recently, then you’re not along. Did you know that 1 in 5 Aussies regret how much alcohol they drank during lockdown?
To help bravely share her personal experience we welcome our special guest Casey Bennett – a mum of three kids (all under 8 years of age) from Victoria who picked up the habit of drinking ‘daily’ during the first lockdown in the state.
We ask Casey questions including:
- Can you please tell us a little about your personal experience?
- How did you find this affected you and was this a contributing factor to the change in your drinking pattern – or not?
- How have you found the experience of homeschooling 3 kids at home by yourself?
- Did you find you had control of that momentum or it had control of you at that stage?
- How long did it take you to realise you had increased your alcohol consumption?
- Were you aware how long it takes to form a new habit?
- Did it gradually increase, or did you notice a sudden spike and or escalation?
- How did you break the habit?
- Did you find that it helped you with homeschooling, if so how?
- Through your experience, how can parents recognise any problem signs and what should they do to turn it around?
