On the weekend of the 15th and 16th June 2019, you’re invited to the popular Perth Winter Sake Festival by SuperSake, held on the grounds of Tsunami restaurant.

Get down with all the new artisanal sakes Tsunami has recently imported, including freshly brewed start of the season nama sakes.

Over two exciting days, from midday till 5pm, sake lovers will have the opportunity to sample over 50 different types of beverages from all over Japan including junmai sake, (Japanese) whisky, plum wines, cider, gin, liqueur and Japanese craft beer.

The diverse variety includes nama genshu, murokas, nigori, nama nigori, junmai, junmai ginjos, junmai daiginjos, straight daiginjos, bodaimoto method sakes, not to mention multiple plum wines, yuzu and mikan wines, Japanese beer, Japanese whisky and even shochu!

Sample diverse tastings from three different chocolate beers to Japanese Schwartz, Rye and Yuzu beer, as well as imo, mugi and kome shochus from Okayama and Kagoshima! Or how about the tang of tart yuzu-shu (Japanese citrus lemon like liqueur) or a variety of plum wines from the icy north of Akita to the sunny climes of Ehime.

You can also meet experienced sake professionals who will be happy to answer your questions.

Purchase your ‘bracelet’ with 10 tabs, entitling you to 10 different ‘pours’ of sake or plum wine plus a ceramic sake tasting cup today here. Early bird’ bracelets are priced $15pp ahead of the festival start. The regular price is $20pp. Last entry at 4:30pm, so get in early before all the sake has been sold.

Beer tasting is priced $30pp and enables you to 8 x 100ml pours of Japanese Craft Beer from Baeren in Iwate prefecture. Come taste the speciality beers ranging from Vintage chocolate stout to Yuzu wit to Rye beer to others.

If you like what you sample, you can purchase bottles to take home and enjoy (please note only one bottle of whisky per patron). Sake also makes for great gifts for friends and family!

To complement the tastings, Tsunami head chef Tetsuya has designed a sake matsuri menu with specials from $5 including okonomiyaki sticks, sausages, sushi rolls and more.

On Sunday there will be a Japanese taiko drumming performance. Free for all to watch.
